Mint Editor

Posted by admin On May - 27 - 2010

Mint Editor is an advanced version of AuroraFlash CMS, and has a slightly wider range of settings in comparison to it.
Mint Editor is useless as a standalone application and it is used purely with specialized Mint Editor templates. The application runs on windows platforms and can be used to manage several templates one by one.

mint_editor

Pluses: Minuses:
  • Desktop based
  • Easy to use
  • full template customization
  • up-to-date
  • understandable page structure editor
  • all in one flash editor
  • Works only with specialized templates
  • Windows OS only
  • limited number of design customization settings

Recap: a decent alternative for people, who think flash XML templates are too complex to edit :)

ReadyPhotoSite Photography CMS

Posted by admin On December - 26 - 2009

Ready Photo Site offers a really cool niche CMS solution. The company provides editable flash websites for photographers, artists, musicians, designers and other creatives. At last we see the software that is both well developed and affordable. Let’s take a look at the tasty features Ready Photo Site delivers.

Ready Photo Site is new in the market, so hopefully these guys will increase the number of advantages they offer, they’ve been showing a pretty good start so far. Currently they have 6 cool template designs to choose from. You are enabled to preview each template, to see how it works and how it feels. There is also a free 7 days trial available, so you could play with the system more thoroughly.

Ready Photo Site managed to achieve a successful mix of rich functionality and easy-to-use editing environment. There is nothing superfluous we’ve found in the toolkit. Unlimited number of text pages and image galleries, built-in image editor, ability to add music and create slideshows, password protected galleries, integrated shopping cart system, editable design elements – everything is tailored to the needs of a photographer or artist. No programming skills are required, and what’s more important there is a balance between an intuitive UI and user discretion – the number of options is not large, still you can apply many neat effects and functions to your site. The system is well-organized so you don’t have to hunt around looking for a particular instrument.

ReadyPhotoSite Photography CMS

ReadyPhotoSite offers 3 software packages: basic ($99), advanced ($149) and ecommerce ($199). There are no other additional or hidden fees required (installation is free). You can either host your website on your own server, or let it reside on Ready Photo Site’s one. Domain name registration plus hosting service from ReadyPhotoSite will cost you $100 per year. We also notice the company often announces some nice discounts and coupon codes for the new customers, so if you would like to lower your expenses on the website, don’t give up and contact their Support team. It seems people there know what a customer-friendly service should be, so you have pretty good chances to get some loyalty in response.

SEO-friendliness is kinda weak link in Ready Photo Site flash website CMS, but their developers promise to re-organize the system the way to provide better SEO-optimization opportunities in the nearest future. OK, let’s wait for the result!

Although small selection of designs and not perfect SEO support are definitely among the drawbacks of the Ready Photo Site software, they are not enough to make us call this solution weak. Quite the contrary, we consider Ready Photo Site to be a very solid design and website controlling application.  We strongly recommend you to check this service if you are about to create a website or enhance your site management experience.

Pluses: Minuses:
  • usable and rich admin environment
  • high quality, beautiful designs
  • customer-friendly
  • affordable (the most advanced E-Commerce package $199)
  • Small choice of designs (yet)
  • Not SEO-friendly in full measure (yet)

Recap: Very good website management solution and promises to be even better!

Rainbow Live Flash

Posted by admin On November - 30 - 2009

Rainbow Live Flash CMS is a rather up-to-date CMS that works with Actionscript 3 and uses Flash Player 10. It has a neat look itself, but you can’t say the same about the website you end up having when using this CMS. It is mostly targeted on non-professional users and due to this provides a rather narrow range of functions. In fact, they say that it is not a CMS, they call it “lite” CMS on their website. Well, they are right as they say Rainbow is made for small and, medium size websites. The live version is commercial, but the price is as “lite” as the product. Price: 99$

Rainbow CMS

Pluses: Minuses:
  • easy
  • cheap
  • nice interface
  • up-to-date
  • understandable page structure editor
  • provides two accounts:user and admin
  • low functionality
  • can be used only for very simple and small websites
  • bad in terms of website appearance
  • no pre-made templates

Recap: cheap solution for amateurs

Flaria Flash

Posted by admin On November - 30 - 2009

Recently I came across Flaria CMS, which is a flash CMS. In fact, what surprised me the most on their website (besides the ugly dancing guy) was that as far as I understand they are selling a product, that is still under development. On the main page of the website it’s said that the latest update was on 01.05.2009, the RC2 version.
I read the features and took a look at the demo: the list of features looks like there was nothing to write about and they decided to make features out of regular functions of a CMS. Among the other features I’ve found “change font”. I was hoping they mean I can load new fonts (like Fonts Manager on FlashMoto), which can help make a multilingual website. But no! They mean I can only select one of the standard fonts. Is this a feature?
Price: 99.95€ or about $150

Flaria CMS

Pluses: Minuses:
  • can’t find any… can you?
  • not a ready product
  • poor functionality
  • poor usability
  • price is too high for this

Recap: If you have 150$ you don’t need, send them to me

Royale Flash

Posted by admin On November - 24 - 2009

Royale Flash CMS is a CMS that really does surprise you with its simple and understandable interface: everything is made to be clear and intuitive. But as the other side of this coin is a lack of functions and usability. There are no templates or themes offered for this CMS, which is not very nice for the end user. There is no manual provided as well: they say it is easy enough to make manual be useless. Still, many people feel uncomfortable having no instruction and user’s guide. There is also nothing mentioned about SEO-frendliness.
And the worst and the weirdest thing about it. These guys say on their website that they won’t tell the price. To find out how much it costs you have to use the trial version first and email them. Why should I try something and spend my time if it’s our of my budget and might turn out too expensive to pay for??? Probably, the price is too large to say aloud
In fact, we’ve tried e-mailing these guys about the price, but there was no feedback at all. Great job, losers! Price: unknown.

royale-flash

Pluses: Minuses:
  • White-label and rebrandable
  • Nice interface
  • Not functional enough
  • No templates
  • No manual
  • No SEO
  • No price

Recap: could be good if it wasn’t so bad

Fuzzle

Posted by admin On November - 23 - 2009

Fuzzle CMS is one of the most sophisticated Flash CMS platforms available. I can’t deny that it has lots of pretty animation options and wide variety of settings to toggle. But the logical structure of the admin panel is not really user friendly. I had to spend some time clicking here and there to understand how it works. By the way I did not manage to add my own block after several attempts and finally gave up. And eventually the vast number of options can frighten away the end user. So I suppose this platform is more developers oriented. Should also mention that Fuzzle CMS has the highest Price of all currently posted platforms – 475€, plus add-ons, varying from 49€ to 125€.

Fuzzle

Pluses: Minuses:
  • design integration from a draft
  • SEO support
  • continuously replenished Widget Store availability
  • availability of an open simple API for external developers
  • too sophisticated for the end user
  • some simple functions are not clearly incarnated
  • price is way too big
  • additional plugins will make the end price even bigger

RECAP: Good platform for lazy developers with unlimited budgets.

Saffron

Posted by admin On November - 19 - 2009

Saffron flash CMS is rather easy to use for all kinds of users but this is probably the only thing that is good about it. If you are using this CMS you can forget about SEO and expect your website have a primitive design. Saffron CMS uses Actionscript 2.0. The admin panel is not usable at all. Price : $129

saffron

Pluses: Minuses:
  • file manager (nice feature)
  • has a template database
  • cheaper than many others: $129
  • not SEO friendly
  • very out-of-date
  • poorly developed admin panel with lack of functional

RECAP: affordable solution with minimum functions..

FlashMoto

Posted by admin On November - 16 - 2009

FlashMoto CMS provides the end user with the broad variety of facilities for professional Flash-based website construction and management allowing to control interactive web content. This is truly the most sophisticated and the most flexible flash CMS system. FlashMoto admin panel lets you control every single aspect of your template – from picking colors and up to defining animations.
What is great about this CMS is that it has a pretty wide range of flashmoto templates all over different template stores.

I must admit that the installation of that powerful engine is pretty annoying, that is why some of the partner hosting companies are offering special FlashMoto hosting to ease your pain and let you enjoy the product itself.

The latest price for FlashMoto CMS is: $243 !

FlashMoto CMS

FlashMoto CMS

Pluses: Minuses:
  • the most powerful
  • variety of templates
  • multilingual
  • cool WYSIWYG editor
  • attractive GUI
  • pretty complex admin panel
  • lack of  documentation
  • hard to install for a casual PC user

RECAP: FlashMoto can be considered a leader of the industry, though it has lots of really strong competitors.

fCMSPro

Posted by admin On November - 16 - 2009

fCMSPro is probably the most inconvenient way to build your website. This CMS allows you to manage your website content in the real-time mode not even closing your web browser window, however there are no noticeable benefits of this feature. According to their live demo the user-friendliness and simplicity are not the words to use in their slogan.  Price: $299. I really doubt that this stuff should cost even more than Flashblocks glitchy editor.

fCMSPro

fCMSPro

Pluses: Minuses:
  • direct content update
  • search option
  • written in ActipnScript 2.0 so is not urgent for contemporary Flash-based websites
  • not really clear and convenient user interface

  • $299 8O
  • Browser incompatibility issues (wysiwyg not working well in Safari)

RECAP: simple but useless.

If you want to build an ugly Flash-powered website in less than no time Flashblocks will become a proper solution. • does not require database
  • possesses limited functionality
  • does not provide sufficient customization options
  • not SEO friendly at all
